At Santa Clarita Photographic Studio, it’s much more than just pictures.
“There is no formula to what I do,” says owner Yoti Telio. “The only givens are technical -- the lighting, which we know how to use, and the consistently excellent quality of the final product. Other than that, every image we create for our customers is truly one-of-a-kind. We don’t create cookie-cutter photography.”
When someone comes in to chat about having a child or family portrait taken, Yoti sits down with them, face to face, for what they call an “inspirational” interview. “There’s no cost or obligation,” he says. “They see our images up close and personal, we chat, and we find out their likes and dislikes. Then we work with our client to create a product tailored exactly to their needs.”
At the interview, Yoti sets an appointment for the actual photo session. “This allows us a better window of opportunity to get ready to capture our subjects’ most priceless expressions at their freshest,” he explains. “Knowing what the customer wants ahead of time allows us to have everything set up, so when they walk into our studio, they walk right onto their set, and we get started right away. Everything usually goes more smoothly and quickly that way.”
Same-day shoots don’t work as well, Yoti notes. “If people come in, we chat, and then they wait while we get set up, the mojo is often gone before they get in front of the camera. Especially children -- the opportunity to photograph them before they get tired or restless is very short.”
Yoti is also able to set up quickly outside the studio at locations such as a beach, park, backyard or even the baby’s nursery. “Sometimes brand-new moms would rather not take their infants outside just yet, so we come in and photograph the baby in their crib, in their home environment,” he says
